| Casares is one of the most beautiful ‘:white
villages’: in Andalucia. The village is built down the
sides of a mountain and because of this is called a ‘:hanging
village’:. At the peak of the mountain are the ruins of
an 8th century Moorish castle.
Our cottages are located in the valley directly below Casares
a far cry from the unsightly mass of tourism and new developments.
The valley is dotted with ancient water mills and indeed is
known by the locals as ‘:Valle de los molinos’:
(valley of the mills).
Being a river valley, which is incidentally, one of the few
rivers that run all year round, the area is always green and
in mid summer is like an oasis in contrast to the brown and
yellow sun burned scenery of the surrounding area. It is truly
a place of outstanding natural beauty and has a rich diversity
of wildlife.
We are very lucky to enjoy the complete peace and tranquillity
of the ‘:campo’: (countryside), warm silent nights,
whilst being so close to the airports and famous towns of
Marbella, Estepona etc.
